Hands-On Epoxy Floor Training Classes

Twin Coating Supplies runs in-person epoxy floor training classes taught by people who have installed floors for a living, covering the full install from surface preparation through topcoat plus the business side of pricing and selling the work. Classes are hands-on. You put material on concrete rather than watching a slide deck about it.

The reason we run training at all is straightforward. Almost every coating failure we get called about traces back to something learned wrong: a slab that never got moisture tested, a base coat stretched to save a pail, a recoat window missed on fast chemistry, a job priced without accounting for the grinding. Those are all teachable in a day of doing it with someone watching.

Dates, pricing and class size are set per session. Call 817-676-6793 to find out when the next class runs and to hold a spot.

What the class covers

The class follows a real install in the order it actually happens, because that is the order in which decisions have to be made on a jobsite.

You work through slab assessment and surface preparation, including running a grinder, choosing diamond tooling, hitting a specified concrete surface profile and managing dust with an extractor. You cover concrete moisture testing and what the readings mean, which is the single most commonly skipped step in the trade and the source of the most expensive failures.

Then the coating itself: mixing two component material correctly and completely, rolling a base coat at the right rate, broadcasting flake evenly into wet resin, scraping and vacuuming, and applying topcoats including where slip resistance additives belong.

The last part of the class is the part nobody else teaches, which is how to price and sell the work. Estimating material from square footage, pricing prep honestly, quoting a job you can actually make money on, and explaining the system to a customer in language that closes.

  • Slab assessment: existing coatings, sealers, contamination, cracks and joints.
  • Surface preparation: grinder operation, diamond tooling selection, hitting a profile, dust control.
  • Concrete moisture testing and what the readings mean for the system you are quoting.
  • Mixing two component material properly, and why partial mixing cures soft.
  • Base coat application at the correct rate, and why stretching it fails.
  • Flake broadcast technique, scraping, vacuuming and reclaiming.
  • Topcoat application, recoat windows and slip resistance additives.
  • The business side: estimating material, pricing prep, quoting and selling the job.

Who the class is for

The class suits people at three different points in the trade.

The first is someone starting a coating business. You may come from another trade or from nothing at all, and you want to learn the whole install correctly the first time rather than assembling it from videos and expensive mistakes on customer floors.

The second is an established contractor adding coatings to an existing service line. Garage door companies, concrete contractors, remodelers and property maintenance firms already have the customers and the trucks. What they need is the technical process and a realistic view of the labor.

The third is a crew that is already installing floors and is having problems. Delamination, bubbles, flake pulling loose, blistering, callbacks. These usually come from one or two specific habits, and a day of doing it with someone watching is the fastest way to find them.

Serious DIY installers are welcome too, particularly anyone planning a large floor or a shop of their own. If you are not sure the class fits what you are trying to do, call 817-676-6793 and ask. We would rather tell you honestly than sell you a seat you do not need.

  • New contractors starting a coating business from scratch.
  • Existing trades adding floor coatings as a service line.
  • Working crews troubleshooting failures and callbacks.
  • Serious DIY installers taking on a large floor or shop.

Why learn from a supply house

Most training in this category is run by a manufacturer teaching you their product line, or by an installer teaching the one system they use. Both have value and both have a blind spot.

A supply house sees every system. We stock epoxy, polyurea and polyaspartic from several manufacturers, we sell to contractors who use all of them, and we hear what comes back. That means the class can tell you honestly when an epoxy base coat is the better choice and when a fast polyurea is, rather than steering everything toward one product.

We also see the failures. When a floor peels, the contractor calls their supplier, not their trainer. Twenty plus years of those phone calls is the material the class is built on.

  • Multiple manufacturers and chemistries taught side by side, not one product line.
  • 20+ years in the trade behind the instruction.
  • Built on the failures that actually come back, not on a marketing deck.
  • The same people teaching the class answer the phone when you have a question on a jobsite later.

What you get after the class

The class is the start of the relationship, not the end of it. Everyone who trains with us gets a phone number that reaches somebody who knows the products, and using it is encouraged. Call from the jobsite with a moisture reading you are unsure about or a slab that looks wrong. That call costs nothing and it has saved a lot of floors.

Graduates also get a straightforward path into materials. We ship nationwide, we can build a material list against your square footage and system, and contractors ordering volume can talk to us about the Tier Partner Program for tier based pricing.

What we do not do is sell you a territory, a license or a franchise. This is training and it is materials. What you do with it is your business.

Dates, pricing and booking

Class dates, pricing, location and class size are set per session and are available by phone. Call 817-676-6793 to ask about the next available class and to reserve a spot, or email twincoatingsupplies@gmail.com.

Classes are hands-on and seats are limited by that fact. There is a hard limit on how many people can meaningfully run a grinder and broadcast a floor in a day, so sessions fill and booking ahead is worth it.

If you have a crew to train, ask about that on the call. Training a whole crew together has real advantages, because the crew learns the same sequence and the same vocabulary at the same time.

Frequently asked

What does the Twin Coating Supplies epoxy floor training class cover?

The epoxy floor training class covers the complete install in the order it happens on a jobsite: slab assessment, grinder operation and surface profiling, concrete moisture testing, mixing two component material, base coat application, flake broadcast, scraping and topcoating, plus the business side of estimating material, pricing prep and selling the job.

Is the training hands-on or classroom based?

Twin Coating Supplies training classes are hands-on and held in person, which means you run a grinder, mix material and put coating on concrete rather than watching a presentation, with somebody experienced watching what you do. Seat numbers are limited per session. Call 817-676-6793 for the next available date and to reserve a spot.

Who should attend epoxy floor training?

Epoxy floor training suits new contractors starting a coating business, established trades such as concrete contractors and remodelers adding coatings as a service line, working crews troubleshooting failures and callbacks, and serious DIY installers taking on a large floor. Call 817-676-6793 if you are unsure whether the class fits your situation.

How much does the training class cost and when is the next one?

Class dates, pricing, location and class size are set per session at Twin Coating Supplies and are available by phone, so call 817-676-6793 or email twincoatingsupplies@gmail.com to ask about the next scheduled class and to hold a seat. Hands-on sessions have limited capacity, so booking ahead is worth doing.

Do you teach one manufacturer's system or several?

Twin Coating Supplies is a supply house carrying epoxy, polyurea and polyaspartic systems from several manufacturers, so the training covers the chemistries side by side rather than promoting one product line. That includes when an epoxy base coat outperforms a fast polyurea and when the reverse is true, which single-brand training rarely addresses.

Do I get support after the training class?

Training with Twin Coating Supplies comes with ongoing phone support, so you can call 817-676-6793 from a jobsite with a moisture reading, a slab condition or a product question and reach somebody who knows the systems. We also build material lists against your square footage and ship nationwide, with tier pricing available for volume buyers.
