What a kit actually saves you, and where kits go wrong
A kit exists to solve two problems. The first is ratio. Two-component resins are mixed by a fixed ratio, and a kit gives you a Part A and a Part B that are already sized to each other, so nobody is measuring by eye at seven in the morning. The second is compatibility. A kit keeps the primer, body coat and topcoat inside one manufacturer's system, which removes the most common cause of a floor failing between coats.
What a kit does not do is size your job for you. Kits are sold by nominal square footage at a stated film build, and that figure assumes a prepared slab of normal porosity. A freshly ground floor, an old porous slab, or a heavy profile will pull more material and shrink your real coverage. Broadcasting flake also changes the math, because a flake base coat is rolled heavier than a solid color coat.
Read what is actually in the box before you order. Some kits are the full stack, primer through topcoat. Others are one layer of a system and assume you already have the rest. Anything you plan to add, such as pigment, flake, an accelerator or a UV pack, needs to be checked against the specific resin rather than assumed.
Once a kit is mixed it is on the clock. Mix only what your crew can place inside the pot life, keep the mixed material out of the pail and onto the floor, and remember that a warm slab and a warm bucket both shorten the working window.
