Good to know
- Order the color with the job in mind. Clear is a build or lock down coat, standard colors are the coat that carries the look of the floor.
- Epoxy ambers under UV as a class. On floors near sunlit doors or glass, put a UV stable polyaspartic or urethane clear over the top.
- Epoxy cure slows sharply on a cold slab. Check the minimum application temperature on the technical data sheet before scheduling a winter install, or use the TCS Epoxy Accelerator for cold conditions.
- Low odor and VOC compliant means it can go into occupied healthcare and food facilities without emptying the building, which is often the deciding factor over a cheaper product.
- Ships as a regulated liquid under ground shipping rules. Call 817-676-6793 for freight on large or pallet orders.
About the TCS Epoxy 100 Kit
TCS Epoxy 100 is a two component epoxy floor coating built for adhesion, gloss, abrasion resistance and chemical resistance. It is available in clear or standard colors, it is VOC compliant and low odor, and it is supplied in 3 gallon kits. It works on new floors and on resurfacing projects, which covers most of what a coating contractor actually runs into.
System position depends on which version you order. In clear, it is a body coat or a build coat, often used over a pigmented base or as the coat that locks down a flake or aggregate broadcast. In a standard color it is the solid color coat that carries the appearance of the floor. In either case it goes over prepared concrete or a primer, and where the customer needs UV stability or a harder wearing finish, a polyaspartic or urethane clear goes over the top.
The target environments listed for it are industrial, healthcare and food processing, which is a useful signal about what it is built for. Those are floors that get washed, that see spills, and that get inspected. Chemical resistance and a low odor, VOC compliant formula matter far more there than on a residential garage, where the buying decision is usually price and appearance.
Against a decorative system, the decision is simple. If the floor needs to look like something, build a flake or metallic system and topcoat it. If the floor needs to survive and be cleanable, a solid color epoxy like this one, applied over the right primer, is the direct answer. Mix ratio, coverage rate, pot life and recoat window are on the technical data sheet, available on request at 817-676-6793.
What it is used for
- Solid color industrial and warehouse floors
- Healthcare and institutional floors
- Food processing areas
- Resurfacing worn but structurally sound slabs
- Clear build coat over a flake or aggregate broadcast
Before you order
Work out how much you need
The most common ordering mistake in this category is buying by the gallon instead of by the floor. Coverage changes with porosity, profile and whether the coat is a base, a broadcast or a topcoat. Put the slab dimensions in and get a range rather than a single number.
How much material do I need?
Enter the slab. We will give you a range, because porosity and surface profile change real coverage.
- Floor area
- 400 sq ft
- Base coat
- 3.1 to 3.4 gal
- Topcoat (1 pass)
- 3.1 to 3.4 gal
- Flake
- about 8 x 25 lb boxes
Base coat, flake broadcast to rejection, then a clear topcoat. Order roughly 10% over on a first job.
Questions about this product
How much floor does a 3 gallon TCS Epoxy 100 kit cover?
Coverage for TCS Epoxy 100 changes with application. A solid color floor coat stretches considerably further than a heavy build coat locking down a flake or aggregate broadcast, and a porous ground slab pulls more than a tight one. The technical data sheet carries the rate for each application.
Does TCS Epoxy 100 come in colors?
TCS Epoxy 100 is available in clear or standard colors. The clear is used as a build coat or to lock down a flake or aggregate broadcast, and the standard colors are used where the epoxy itself carries the appearance of the floor as a solid color system.
Can TCS Epoxy 100 be used in a food processing plant?
TCS Epoxy 100 is listed as suitable for industrial, healthcare and food processing environments and is VOC compliant with a low odor formula, which is why it goes into facilities that are washed down and inspected. Confirm the specific listings against your facility spec on the technical data sheet.
Can I put TCS Epoxy 100 over an existing coating?
TCS Epoxy 100 is stated as suitable for both new floors and resurfacing, but an existing coating still has to be sound, clean and mechanically abraded so the new coat has a key. Test a section for adhesion first. If the old coating is delaminating anywhere, it has to come off.
What is the recoat window on TCS Epoxy 100?
The recoat window for TCS Epoxy 100 is on the technical data sheet, available on request, and it shifts with temperature the way every epoxy does. Missing the window means abrading the cured surface before the next coat, so plan the day around it. Call 817-676-6793 for the sheet.
Will TCS Epoxy 100 hold up to chemicals?
TCS Epoxy 100 is formulated for chemical and abrasion resistance and is targeted at industrial, healthcare and food processing floors, which are the environments where spills and wash down are routine. For specific chemicals and concentrations, check the resistance chart on the technical data sheet.
