- Low sheen hides wear. On a floor that is going to be used hard, a matte finish keeps looking acceptable long after a gloss would look scratched and tired.
- Sheen is a customer decision, not a technical one. Show a sample of both before you order, because a customer expecting a wet look gloss will not accept a matte floor.
- Over stained concrete this coat is the protection. Stain supplies color only, so the sealer is what stands between the floor and the traffic.

About the Smith’s Poly-Seal
Smith's Poly-Seal is a clear sealer supplied in a low sheen finish. It is the final coat on the floor, the layer that carries the appearance and takes the wear, and the low sheen is a deliberate specification rather than a compromise.
Sheen is one of the few decisions on a floor that the customer will comment on every single day. Gloss makes a space brighter, reflects overhead light and gives that wet look that sells a residential garage. It also shows every scuff, tire mark, footprint and dust film, and it highlights any flatness problems in the slab. Low sheen does the opposite. It reads calmer, it hides wear patterns and traffic lanes, and it keeps the floor looking maintained for longer in a space that is not going to be babied. For commercial floors, back of house areas, stained concrete and any floor where the concrete itself is the feature rather than the shine, low sheen is usually the better sell.

No. Smith's Poly-Seal is the final coat in the system, so nothing is applied over it. If the floor needs recoating later, the existing sealer has to be cleaned and abraded first so the new coat has a mechanical key, and the data sheet covers the correct recoat preparation.
