- Buy the matched Coval Concrete Primer with it. Finish coats bonded straight to bare concrete without the system primer are the single most common cause of delamination in this category.
- Mix the kit as supplied. The 5 gallon and 1 gallon components are packaged to a fixed ratio, and eyeballing a partial batch is how you end up with a floor that never hardens.

About the Coval® Concrete Coat
Coval Concrete Coat is the finish coat in the Coval Technologies concrete floor system. It is supplied as a two part kit, 5 gallons plus 1 gallon, and it is stocked here in a gloss sheen. Coval is a specialty coatings house rather than a commodity brand, and their concrete line is bought by contractors who are solving a specific durability or appearance problem on a slab, not just putting color down.
In system position this is the coating that goes over prepared concrete after Coval Concrete Primer. The primer establishes the bond and the coat carries the finish, the gloss and the wear surface. Buy them together. Running a finish coat straight onto bare concrete without the matched primer is where most adhesion failures in this category start, and a coating this specialized is not the place to improvise a system.
The kit ratio is fixed by the packaging: the 5 gallon component and the 1 gallon component are mixed as supplied. Do not split the kit and mix by eye across two jobs, because a partial mix of a two component coating that is off ratio will either stay soft or cure brittle. If you need to break a kit up, ask about smaller packaging instead.
Coverage on this coat depends on the film build you are specifying, the porosity of the slab and how the previous coat was finished. The most common ordering mistake in this category is buying by the gallon instead of by the floor. Coverage changes with porosity, profile and whether the coat is a base, a broadcast or a topcoat. Put the slab dimensions in and get a range rather than a single number.
