The Midwest Rake S550 Professional power brace scraper is a floor scraper built with a brace behind the blade so it can take real downpressure without folding. It is offered in a flexible blade and a stiff blade, and picking the right one is most of the decision.
The flexible blade follows the contour of a slab, which is what you want for scraping up thin residue, wet material, spilled resin, and coatings that are already releasing. It keeps contact across an uneven floor instead of riding on high spots.
The stiff blade concentrates force at the edge. That is the one for chipping cured buildup, lifting hard mastic, and getting under a coating that is not coming up willingly.
On a coating install, the scraper does the fast work before the grinder does the finish work. Use it to take off the bulk of whatever is on the floor, then grind the slab to open the profile the coating needs. Scraping alone leaves residue and no mechanical profile, and coating over that is a bond failure across whatever area you shortcut.
