7" Aluminum Dust Shroud

This is a 7 inch aluminum dust shroud for hand grinders, the piece that turns an angle grinder with a diamond cup wheel from a dust cannon into a controlled tool. It fits over the wheel and connects to a vacuum, so the dust generated at the cut is pulled away at the source instead of being thrown into the room.

Aluminum rather than plastic matters on this part. A shroud lives at the working end of a grinder, gets dropped, gets levered against walls and columns, and gets hot. Plastic shrouds crack at the mounting collar and go out of round, and once a shroud no longer sits square to the slab it stops sealing and stops capturing. An aluminum body holds its shape through a lot more abuse.

It is the companion to a floor grinder rather than a replacement for one.
