Good to know
- Off-ratio mixing is the most common cause of soft or uncured spots. Measure small batches instead of estimating them in a large pail.
- Use a fresh container for pigmented and clear material. Residue from a tinted batch will haunt the next clear topcoat.
- Mix a sample board in the same container size and at the same ratio you plan to run so the sample actually predicts the floor.
- Treat them as consumables. A container with cured resin in it is no longer accurate.
About the Dynamics Mix & Measure Container
Mix and measure containers are the cheapest insurance on a resin job. Two-component coatings fail from off-ratio mixing more than from almost anything else, and off-ratio usually starts with somebody eyeballing a partial batch because the pail was too big to split accurately.
The graduated container solves the small-volume problem. It is where you measure pigment into resin, where an accelerator or additive gets dosed at the manufacturer's rate, where a partial kit gets split for a patch or a touch-up, and where a sample board gets mixed at the same loading you plan to run on the floor. Trying to do any of that in a five gallon pail is how you end up with a soft spot in the finished floor.

What sizes do these mixing containers come in?

Why not just mix in the pail?
A full kit mixed in its own pail is fine, but partial batches are where off-ratio mixing happens. A graduated mix and measure container lets you split a kit, dose pigment or add an accelerator to a published rate, which a five gallon pail cannot do accurately.
Can I reuse them?
Only until resin cures in them. Once coating has set inside a mix and measure container the graduations are no longer accurate and residue can contaminate the next batch, particularly if a tinted batch is followed by a clear topcoat. Treat them as consumables on resin work.
Do I need one for pigment dosing?
Yes, if you are tinting on site. Pigment is dosed per gallon of resin at the coating manufacturer's letdown ratio, and hitting that ratio accurately requires a graduated mix and measure container rather than an estimate made in a five gallon pail.
