ASL / Lavina Diamonds

These diamond segments are made in ASL and Lavina fitment for clockwise rotation, so they are intended for ASL and Lavina floor grinders running the matching plate pattern, and you should check your machine's plate, the segment count it takes and the rotation direction before ordering.

Choose a soft bond for hard concrete and a hard bond for soft concrete, which is the opposite of what most buyers expect, because the bond has to wear at a rate that keeps exposing fresh diamond as the segment cuts. Hard dense slab needs a soft bond to keep cutting.

Use PCD tooling on these machines when you are removing coatings, mastic, glue, thick sealer or paint, because polycrystalline diamond shears that material off the slab, and use conventional diamond segments when you are grinding or polishing the concrete itself. Diamond bond run through thick coating just loads and glazes.

Shark tooth segments are the aggressive shape for fast stock removal and attacking coatings, while double button and double hexagon segments spread contact area over the slab and run smoother, which suits general grinding and the steps leading into polishing. Segment shape changes cut rate and finish quality, not just appearance.

The number of ASL or Lavina diamond segments you need depends on how many plates your machine runs and how many positions each plate holds, so count the positions on your machine and order full sets. Mixing new segments with worn ones on the same plate loads the machine unevenly and leaves swirl marks.

For surface prep before a coating you generally need far fewer steps than for a polished floor, often just an aggressive metal bond pass to open the concrete and create profile, then a check for consistency.
