Good to know
- Hot tire pickup is what kills the wrong sealer on a driveway. DV-WB is engineered against it, so use it anywhere a vehicle parks.
- Water-based application is sensitive to weather. Check temperature, humidity and the rain forecast before you open a pail on an exterior slab.
- Clean and profile first. A sealer bonds to what is on the surface, and dirt, efflorescence or old curing compound is what it will bond to if you leave it there.

Duravel DV-WB is a water-based acrylic concrete sealer that provides a crystal-clear finish on concrete and overlays. It is engineered for superior adhesion, chemical resistance, stain protection and hot tire pickup prevention, and it is sold in 1 gallon and 5 gallon units.
Hot tire pickup is the reason a lot of contractors end up on this page. A vehicle parked on a sealed slab puts hot rubber against the coating, the tire cools and contracts, and a sealer that is not built for it lifts off in patches shaped exactly like a tire footprint. It is the most common single failure on residential garage and driveway sealing, and it is a callback every time. DV-WB is specifically engineered to resist it, which makes it the right choice on anything a car parks on.
DV-WB is a topical film-forming sealer, not a penetrating treatment. It sits on the surface and does the work there: stain protection, chemical resistance and a clear finish. A penetrating silane or siloxane product takes a different approach, soaking into the slab and leaving the appearance almost untouched, but it gives you no film, no stain barrier at the surface and no gloss. If the job needs surface protection and a finished look, a topical acrylic is what does it.
Being water-based has real jobsite consequences.
