About the Duravel Overlay Color Pack
Duravel Overlay Color Packs are the integral coloring component for Duravel cementitious overlay mixes. Duravel TSO Decorative Concrete Overlay is specifically designed to be integrally colored with Overlay Color Packs, and the pack is added into the mix rather than applied to the finished surface.
Integral color and surface color solve different problems. When color is mixed into the overlay, it goes all the way through the material. A scratch, a chip or a worn traffic lane exposes more of the same color instead of exposing gray cement underneath. That is a durability argument, and on commercial floors, entryways and anything with real traffic it is the difference between a floor that ages and a floor that looks damaged. Surface color, whether that is stain or a pigmented coating, sits at or near the top and shows wear the moment it is breached.
The tradeoff is that integral color is committed at the mixer. Once the pack goes in and the material goes down, the color is the color. Batch consistency becomes the thing that decides whether the floor looks right, so every batch on a continuous pour has to be measured the same way, mixed the same way and worked by the same crew at the same pace. Contractors who change anything mid-floor find out about it when the slab dries.
Integral color also does not close the door on decorative work. A colored overlay can still be stained, antiqued and detailed on top, which is how a lot of the best decorative floors are built: an integral base color that carries the floor, with surface color adding movement and depth over it. Duravel In-Fluence water-based stain works over cured overlays for exactly that.

Will every batch come out the same color?
Only if you control the mixing. Duravel Overlay Color Packs color the batch they go into, so identical measuring, identical water and identical mixing across every batch is what keeps a continuous floor consistent. Order all the packs for a job at once rather than adding more later.
